Join us for WHS’s Leadership luncheon to discuss TSA’s mission around vetting programs with Brenna Murphy, the director of Vetting Programs at the Enrollment Services and Vetting programs (ESVP), Transportation Security Administration.
Brenna Murphy serves as the Director of the Vetting Programs Division (VPD) within Enrollment Services and Vetting Programs (ESVP) at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
As the VPD Director, Ms. Murphy oversees three separate branches comprised of over 65 FTE with the responsibility for formal Program Management, revenue and budget management, program reporting, policy and stakeholder engagements, population management, and the development and prioritization of requirements for program system capabilities.
Ms. Murphy joined TSA in October 2004 as a part-time Transportation Security Officer (TSO) at Fairbanks International Airport and promoted through the ranks of Lead TSO, Supervisory TSO, and Security Manager. In 2009, to expand her work experiences and broaden her skillset, Ms. Murphy accepted a position as a Security Manager at Bellingham International Airport and moved to Boise Airport in 2011, overseeing spoke airports. She was selected and served on the Executive Committee for the National Advisory Council (2010-2011). After working several detail opportunities at TSA Headquarters, Ms. Murphy accepted a permanent position in the Security Procedures Branch in November 2012 and became the Branch Manager in December 2014. As the Manager, she oversaw security screening guidelines, processes, and procedures in order to develop and revise aviation security screening Standard Operating Procedures for the entire TSA screening workforce (over 40,000 security officers).
Born and raised in Alaska, Ms. Murphy was awarded a certificate of completion for the Senior Executive Fellows Program, April 2024, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Executive Education. She also has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Music from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
